A view of Kenosha's Grand Avenue West in 1870. The large building at the left with a "lean-to" on each side is one of the first buildings of N. R. Allen Sons Tannery. Note the board walks, wooden bridge over Pike Creek, and dirt streets. This picture was probably taken from the roof or upper floor of the Kenosha Water Cure (Pennoyer).
