From the shores of Lake Michigan to the banks of the Mississippi, the Wisconsin Local Histories collection showcases the awesome resources of public libraries and historical societies from across the state. Assembled and digitized over a nine-year period in coordination with Wisconsin's Department of Public Instruction (DPI) and with support from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), this collection includes an eclectic mix of material including photographs, oral histories, video recordings, maps, periodicals, and scrapbooks. Special thanks to the librarians, curators, and subject experts who invested their time and effort into identifying and describing these rare and unique materials.
