Six men in white shirts and white hats stand on an intricately painted parade float pulled by a horse. The horse is wearing a sign that says "I AM PULLING FOR E. KROSTAG." Ed Krostag Sr. owned and operated the Krostag Paint and Wallpaper Store at 322 Fremont Street, now the site of a church. The float, heading south on Sixth Street, crosses railroad tracks. Behind them are several piles of logs on what was then the site of the Kiel Woodenware Company which, among other things, manufactured cheese boxes and at one time employed more than 100 local men. The property is now occupied by the Kiel Middle School and City Park.
