This picture was taken by Louis M. Thiers in the summer of 1885, when this home was facing east on Ann Street (Sheridan Road). It was later remodeled and the front entrance was on Dayton (62nd) Street. This house was built by a man by the name of Scott some time in the 1840s. The people on the lawn are: Louis Quarles, in baby carriage; Madam Thiers, holding the infant Charles B. Quarles; Emma Thiers Quarles, daughter of Madam Thiers and mother of the two Quarles children.
