Charles T. Jeffery, son of Thomas B. Jeffery. Born May 13, 1876 in Chicago, Illinois, and died November 10, 1935 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Charles took over the company after his father’s death on January 21, 1910, and incorporated it under the name Thomas B. Jeffery Company. After a near-death experience on the “Lusitania,” the younger Jeffery sold the company in 1916 to Charles Nash, who reorganized it as the Nash Motors Company.
Famous for the one-cylinder Rambler, the Thomas B. Jeffery Company (founded by Thomas B. Jeffery in 1900) produced various automobiles such as the modern station wagon, Rambler camper, and Quad trucks until 1916 when the company was sold to Charles Nash for $5,000,000. Although famous for many innovations in the car industry, the Thomas B. Jeffery Company also invested over $1,000 to put up the first road signs in Kenosha County.
