This picture is of the side wheel steamer, John A. Dix, leaving the Kenosha harbor on one of its return trips to Chicago with a load of excursionists from the big city. These sightseers had spent a few hours in Kenosha and several hours on Lake Michigan. In the summers of the early 1890s, Chicago steamboat owners would make one day excursion trips from Chicago to Kenosha and return.
