In 1934, this U.S. Coast Guard station was built by Louis Klem, a Kenosha contractor. On November 11, 1938, it was opened for service. This building replaced Kenosha's first U.S. Coast Guard station, on the same location, that was built in 1879. See lantern slide numbers 92 and 102. A close watch was kept by station personnel of people on the bathing beach, as well as of the harbor and the lake, not only for accidents by water but misdemeanors.
