This picture of the "Brick Long Home," located on the northwest corner of Wisconsin Street (58th Street) and Exchange Street (5th Avenue) was copied from "The Kenosha City Plan," published in 1925. The name "Brick Long Home" was the common name given to this building to distinguish it from the "Long Home" on Church Street (7th Avenue). It is believed that David Crosit built the lower brick part (basement and first story) of this building sometime during the early 1840s. It remained that way until 1873 when Joseph V. Quarles became the owner, and soon after he added the second floor part of wood construction. It was torn down in 1928. The Charles Grant Planning Mill is the group of buildings with the tall brick chimney shown in the distance.
