Victory Way was erected on Market Square in 1919 when the City of Kenosha formally welcomed her "doughboys" home from World War I. To celebrate the occasion, a great demonstration was arranged for July 4th, 1919. More than 2000 service men and civilians joined in a great parade. As the great line reached Market Square, the bands played "On Wisconsin" and "The Stars and Stripes Forever" while the returning soldiers marched down the great "Victory Way."
