This 7"x11" cardboard poster could be placed in a shipyard worker's home. Its call for "quiet" was a reminder that Manitowoc Shipbuilding Company ran shifts around the clock, with many nightshift workers "resting" during the day. The poster features a large 48-star United States flag superimposed over a stylized photograph of the side-launching of a submarine. This illustration also appeared on the cover of the July 1942 Keel Block, the Manitowoc Shipbuilding Company newsletter. The slogan at the bottom, "Uncle needs his boats," was adopted by the Manitowoc Shipbuilding Company after Pearl Harbor. This poster was created by staff of the Keel Block and printed by Color Craft Printers, Inc., a Manitowoc firm.
