Accident scene at 35th Street and Calumet Avenue, October 1, 1943, showing a damaged coupe that had been righted after striking a telephone pole and rolling over. The car's driver was Leonard Novak, who had been pinned inside, sustaining a concussion and other head injuries. He had been taken by ambulance to Holy Family Hospital. Prior to hitting the telepone pole, he had also struck a parked car at 21st and Marshall Streets. This view to the southwest also shows two uniformed firemen standing on the back of a fire truck stopped on 35th Street behind the car, and several men and children who have gathered as onlookers. Police Sergeant George Tulach is partially visible behind the raised hood of the car. In the near background is a billboard for the Kadow Land Company.
