  • Following unsuccessful attempts at farce in works like "A Hole In the Ground" (1887), Hoyt progressed in this rural comedy to the point he received warmer reviews and a longer run (136 performances), presaging his later success. Beth Bedford had a breakout performance as Annie Grey. Associated with Bijou Theatre, 1239 Broadway, New York City.
