An aerial view of the Royal Palace in the city of Luang Prabang in Luang Prabang Province showing the layout of the palace complex. The palace's "white" main entrance directly faces a pathway lined on both sides by palm trees. On the opposite end from the entrance is the exit down a flight of steps leading to a royal structure on the Mekong River (partially visible at the top of the photograph). The structure was used for viewing special festivities and celebrations. The throne room is located inside below the steeple seen in the center of the palace. The steeple was covered in gold leaf.
