This device was used for transporting goods by packhorse. One wicker basket is placed on each side of the saddle-like carrier so as to balance the load. Goods from or to the market were transported this way as well as from highland fields to the village, or village to village. Because the horses were not very big, the loads were carefully weighed and balanced. This specific conveyance originates from the White Hmong village of Nam Phet (PC 5752) in Houa Khong Province.
