The traditional hanging of the lantern on top of Main Hall for the 1956 Homecoming Celebration. Homecoming's "Hanging of the Lantern" tradition began over the south entrance to Graff Main Hall at the suggestion of English teacher Orris O. White who said, "We'll hang the lantern in the old college tower... You won't need to look for the key - the door will be open."
