A White Hmong woman carries her baby on her back. Hmong carry babies this way making it possible for young babies to be with their mothers, or other relatives, for much of the day. Babies are often with their mother even when she is doing work around the house or in the fields. Notice that this baby is wearing a colorful hat to ward off malicious spirits. To see this woman and her baby from different angles, please see additional pictures titled "Hmong (Meo) spectator with baby."
