Summary

• Photograph looking east, showing a gravel pit in an outwash terrace, which provided material for surfacing nearby highways. According to field notes, only very small stones from this pit were used; larger stones that could have been crushed to a usable size were discarded. These make up the expanse of "waste" seen in the foreground.
