The Buddha image being carried by Kammu (Khmu') guards is not readily identifiable. It is not, however, the Prabang, the famous Buddha image for which the city Luang Prabang (literally, "great Prabang") is named. It is also important to note that before a royal ceremony is to be held in Luang Prabang the provincial governor summons Kammu to participate. Most of them come from Ban Kaset in the area of Xieng Ngeun (personal communication from Damrong Tayanin, Co-Director, Kammu Research Project, University of Lund, May 11, 2005).
