Summary
In his interview on March 25, 2018 with John Tortorice, Alfonso Alfonsi discussed his upbringing in Italy and work with George L. Mosse. Mr. Alfonsi talked about being raised in a Roman family, the agrarian reforms that changed Italy in the 1950s, his parents, and his Catholic upbringing. He also discussed meeting George L. Mosse and the process of interviewing Mosse for a book on Aldo Moro. Alfonsi reflected on Mosse's views and contributions to Italian politics and the problem of "alienation of the masses" that both Mosse and Moro addressed during their careers. This interview was conducted as part of the George L. Mosse Program in History oral history project for inclusion in the University Archives oral history collection.
