A White Lahu (Lahu Hpu) man in the White Lahu village of Chalopha (PC 3887)in Houa Khong Province demonstrates the use of his crossbow. The Lahu use crossbows for hunting, mostly for birds and small animals. There are two things to note in the photograph. First, the man is wearing traditional White Lahu man's clothing. The cotton cloth is woven by women in the village and is usually white with a light tan design woven into it. Second, note the typical hairstyle of a White Lahu man--hair pulled back into a knot at the back of the head.
