Temporary sawmill provides lumber for school projects in Houei Kong Cluster in Attapu Province
Date
ca. 1965
Summary
A temporary Mighty Mite (visible on it) sawmill was set up in the Houei Kong Cluster in Attapu Province to provide lumber for the school construction projects. The logs were cut from trees in the forests near Houei Kong (XB 6473, L-56). The fuel to operate the sawmill had to be flown in by Caribou aircraft. The school construction and other projects, like dispensaries, received tin roofing, nails and other hardware commodities from USAID in addition to the lumber from this sawmill.
