Looking eastward towards the eastern edge of the Boloven Plateau, this photograph was taken on a walking trip from the Nyaheun village of Houei Soi (XB 6583, LS 164) to the Nyaheun village of Lassameui (XB 7047) in Attapu Province. The area is not as heavily forested as that around the Laven village of Houei Kong (XB 6473, L-56) west of the Xe Namnoi River. The area is mostly flat grassland and partially sub-tropical vegetation. The eastern region's elevation varies from 3,300 to 4,430 feet above sea level. The Houei Kong Cluster area covers approximately 38 miles north and south and about 40 miles east and west, with Houei Kong as the gateway to the eastern region of the plateau.
