On December 14, 1899 she was taking a coal tow out of the Pittsburgh harbor and had landed at the Davis Island Dam. When the way was clear, she backed her tow out into the channel and was struck by the downbound Charlie Clarke and tow and sank. She was owned by the Combine at the time and had no insurance on her as was the practice
