Visual display of the Funeral procession.

Funeral procession.

  • ca. 1920
  • A group of men in special Taoist costume marching on the street as part of a funeral procession. They are carrying two large, white banners. One of the banners reads: "Being invited to the West (paradise after this life); ascending the White-Jade Mansion (the Taoist heaven)," which reflects a mixture of Buddhist and Taoist ideas in Chinese funeral rites.
