Cream crocheted wool and lace shawl

  • ca. 1840-ca. 1860
  • A cream-colored crocheted wool and lace shawl with an overlay of crocheted cream silk thread. The shawl is shaped similarly to a triangle with cream-colored grosgrain ribbon interlaced along the edges and pulled tight around the face forming a head cover. The two ends of the ribbon come together under the chin and tie into a bow. The two long sides hang down below the shoulders. There are three ribbon bows on the crown.
