A portrait of Zona Gale, who received a bachelors degree in literature from the UW in 1895, and her masters in 1899. A novelist and playwright, she was inspired by daily life in Portage, Wisconsin. She was the first woman to win the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, in 1921, and a political activist for Progressive causes and women's rights. She served on the UW Board of Regents from 1923 to 1929.
