Raymond Hendrikse, assistant district forester, is demonstrating a "Little" tree injector used for injecting a 2,4,5T poison into the underbark of trees to kill them when felling is too expensive or not desired. A sharp bit at the end digs into the bark and then the operator releases the lever at the top which permits a measured amount of the chemical solution to run into the underbark layer. This is done about every two inches around the base of the tree. Death follows a few weeks later. It is manufactured in Oklahoma for $40.
