Second-generation amplified photoelectric photometer from about 1933, invented by UW astronomer Albert Whitford. The brass vacuum tank has an aperture, visible in the middle, to admit light from the telescope. On the left are the electronics that fit into the tank. The upper tube is the photosensitive Kunz cell, the lower tube is a DC amplifier.
