Summary

• Cotton fabrics used for the dress called the "kabbah slot" were printed in Europe. A prominent company manufacturing the fabrics was in Manchester. During the height of the fashion in the 1950s, the company sent representatives with samples to Freetown to survey the choices of Krio women and then produced the favorite designs for the Krio market. The design shown is called "Birds Eating Rice."
