Fresco of Christ Pantocrator (All-ruler) in a six-sided mandorla (star?); four creatures of the apocalypse (symbols of the evangelists); a circle with the zodiac signs encircles the composition. Outside of the circles are the choirs of angels, cherubim, and seraphim. The monastery of Docheiariou was founded in the second half of the 10th century but was relocated to the current location in the first half of the 11th century. The catholicon, or communal church where these frescos are located, dates back to the 16th century with some fresco work dating to 1568 by the Cretan painter Tzortzis.
