Two Nyaheun women in the Nyaheun village of Nam Leng (XB 7248) in Attapu Province drink rice wine ("lao hai"). The woman in the foreground is pouring water from a buffalo horn into the jar of rice wine from which bamboo tubes are protruding. The buffalo horn is used to measure the amount of water. Usually the individual drinking is expected to drink "a horn" of rice wine and sometimes more depending upon the insistence of the host or hostess.
