The Summer Student Work Experience (SSWE) program, started by International Voluntary Services (IVS), provided an opportunity for students from the teacher training schools on summer vacation to teach classes and tutor local students in isolated rural areas. In this case, SSWE students teach classes at the school in Muang Meung (PC5292, LS93) in Houa Khong Province. Both Akha and Lahu students attended the summer program. The student teacher is the young man at the back, second from the left, helping one of the students with math.
