Summary: Over the course of University history, numerous campus-related organizations have produced cookbooks. Containing more than just recipes, these cookbooks provide a look at how food has played a role in campus culture and identity. Whether designed for fundraising or for promotional purposes, they capture a snapshot view of campus organizations of yore and the cultural environment surrounding them.

The dining room staff of Elizabeth Waters Hall, which opened in 1940, produced cookbooks in 1955 and 1965. The first was dedicated to “all girls of Liz who will wish to recapture an important part of dorm life—mealtime.”
