Women, girls and one mother holding her child stand next to the bamboo fence that surrounds the village's primary school and play yard. The girls are students at the school in the Khmu' village of Pang Kwen in Houa Khong Province. The women and girls are watching a USAID Jet Ranger helicopter land. The school is being supplied with educational materials, and because of the remoteness of the village the only way to deliver the supplies in a timely fashion is by air. The residents of this village consider themselves to be Khuen, a group within the general Khmu' grouping.
