COLOPHON: "The Constitution of the United States of America was created as I completed my final semester at Madison Area Technical College earning an Associate Degree in Graphic Design and Illustration. Sending this creation out into the world is my small way of giving back to those who have shared with me, each in their own way. It was a true labor of love.
This copy is book number ten in a limited edition of ten.
The primary typeface is Futura desgined by Paul Renner and released in 1927. It is based on geometric shapes [circles, squares, triangles only] and was prominently featured by the Bauhaus movement, although Renner was not a part of the school. Other typefaces used [in order] are Century Schoolbook, Hotel Coral Essen, Matrix Script, Road Geek 2000, Senator Tall, ¡WARNING!, Hellenic Wide, Daily Fix, STENCIL, atomic suck.
This book was printed with a combination of giclée and serigraphy. Giclée is a fancy art term for inkjet printing. This book was printed on a Epson R1800. All the serigraphy images are hand pulled screen prints printed with water based acrylic inks. The paper is 100% post consumer recycled paper.
All design, printing, and binding ws completed by me in my studio on Sheridan Drive in Madison, Wisconsin. The project was conceived in the Spring of 2008 and produced January through May 2009. You can find me at victoriaprozanmcglinn.com
The text of the Constitution of the United States, the Bill of Rights, and the other amendments. Sewn onto boards with no spine. Wrapper printed with title surrounds the volume. Supplementary material: "For the people, by the people", a stack of four cards wrapped with a paper band, lists recipients of the book, President Obama and Senator Feingold among them.
