At the top, there are sunken quatrefoils typical of the Early English Gothic period. Beneath these are two levels of the late 12th C in the transitional style between Norman and Gothic. Both the blind arcades and window arches have Norman cushion capitals but also have slightly pointed tops. In between these two levels is a Norman trefoiled, blind arcade with cushion capitals on the columns. At the bottom there is another Norman trefoiled blind arcade with varying cushion and scalloped capitals.
