The monastery of Docheiariou was founded in the second half of the 10th century but was relocated to the current location in the first half of the 11th century. The tower which is prominently shown in this photograph and the south wing (on the left) were built in the 17th century. The rest of the east wing seen here was rebuilt in the 18th century. The tower is over 20 meters in height.
