The original Norman clerestory and ceiling was rebuilt after an 1176 fire. The clerestory has paired short pointed openings with a taller central opening which matches the original exterior Norman window. The stiff-leaf capitals and shafts in the clerestory are Purbeck marble. The Norman tribune super-arch has two roll moldings with a tympanum of diapered incised triangles. The niche shafts and shafts for the inner two openings have scalloped capitals.
