The front of the second IVS house in the Laven village of Houei Kong (XB 6473, L-56) in Attapu Province, built in 1966, with the IVS jeep parked on the left. The volunteers lived upstairs, with their offices and the village library downstairs. It contained books published in Lao; students from the elementary school came to read after school most days. Starting in 1970 the house was to become the USAID Cluster office with the USAID Community Development Advisor living upstairs. The first IVS house was across the stream and up the road from this one. (Note: The volunteers' first home was in the Laven village of Nong E-oi (XB 6572) in 1963).
