Nishikie Prints are the woodcut prints published in real time during the Meiji period until 1923. Many of these prints were used as a breaking news of the war including a brief note of the battle, the Emperor's activities, theater actors, popular sumō wrestling stars etc. Some include a brief explanatory paragraph but this particular print has only title and no explanation of the scene.
