Prince Phetsarath accepts offering from the women. He died in 1959. As is common in Southeast Asia, it did not take long for a cult dedicated to him to come into being. Halpern writes, "It is interesting that in life the prince was a very precise and reasoning individual. Thus during our village travels he kept a precise map of the places we had visited. He was also much concerned in being able to aid the villagers and improve their health conditions."
