With the reconstruction after the earthquake of 1185 the west front was extended to the north and south. The lower level has a lancet opening with pairs of blind lancet arches on each side. Above this is a blind arcade of trefoiled arches and then a round window with a pointed blind arch on each side. In the arcade spandrels are unusual sunken trefoils with concave lower borders. Above the round window is lattice work frieze and surrounding is a ring of semicircles.
