This temple, often referred to as "Ho Phrakeo", is perhaps the most famous in Vientiane. It is the temple from which the Thai took the Phrakeo (Emerald Buddha), the palladium of Lao kings, when they sacked Vientiane in 1828 following Anuvong's uprising against Thai rule.
