View of 640 North Henry Street from Lake Mendota, with children playing on the lawn. The stately home was designed for the Brittinghams by Madison architect Lew F. Porter. It was later purchased by the Alpha Delta Phi fraternity and served as their fraternity house until 1959, when it was torn down to make way for a new one. The stone boathouse on the right side of the picture was preserved and renovated, and graces the lakeshore to this day.
