NG136, Figured Relief

  • Fragment of a curvilinear frieze originally with two registers. The upper register depicts ascetics approaching the Buddha who is seated in a cave. The Buddha holds his right hand in abhayamudrā. Above the frieze is a band with leaf and dart motif and below a band with overlapping lanceolate leaves. The lower register which seems to have been divided into panels is damaged with only the top of various scenes visible.
