An Akha woman is carrying a load of palm fronds to the village of Phate (PC 4793) in Houa Khong Province. The leaves will be used to make thatch roofing for the village homes and rice storage houses (granaries). Many times the location where the palm fronds are harvested is a considerable distance from the village.
