Description
The Virginia Company Archives documents the founding and economic development of Virginia as seen through documents of the Virginia Company of London, 1606-1624 that are included in the Ferrar Papers from Magdalene College, Cambridge. It shows the continuing interest of the Ferrar family in the settlement of North America from Jamestown to the Bermudas and provides a source for the study of trade between Britain and America. The contents also offers evidence of the ethnic and gender composition of Virginia and documents tensions among the colonists and of early relations with Native Americans. The collection can also be used to support studies of London’s economic history, as well as Early Modern England's religious and social history.
