SciTech Connect is a consolidation of two core Dept. of Energy technical report databases: the DOE Information Bridge and the Energy Citations Database. The SciTech database serves as a portal to free, publicly-available DOE research and development (R&D) results. Contents include technical reports, bibliographic citations, journal articles, conference papers, books, multimedia, and data information. Material is included if the research was sponsored by DOE through a grant, contract, cooperative agreement or similar type of funding mechanism back to the 1940's. The database contains 2.5 million citations from the 1943 to the present, and more than 670,000 full text reports, mostly from 1991-present. Subject areas include: physics, chemistry, materials, biology, environmental sciences, energy technologies, fission and nuclear technologies, power generation and distribution, engineering, computer science, renewable energy and other topics of interest related to the Dept. of Energy's mission. The SciTech Connect interface uses a semantic search technique in order to produce more relevant results. Personalization features allow saved searches, alerts and export to citation managers.
