Contains seven small books, all by Mark Wagner, of varying size and shape in pockets in the main volume. Each book is accompanied by a card printed to look like a library catalog card.
"In an attempt to increase readership, each of the included books was manufactured in an edition of two hundred and made available to the man on the street at a modest price. To combat the inertia of extravagant production, all seven of the books were made within a single year. The methods of artist book production--letterpress, rubber stamp, hand application, varied formats and paper types--were limited to economical use and employed in tamdem with the photocopies. Fifty copies from each of these editions were set aside to create the Library in a Book compilation. The collection preaddresses the problem of housing a number of various diminutively sized books. It is ready for instructional use, showing by example a variety of binding styles, material uses, and approaches to the form. In addition, extended colophons--located near the rear [of] the library--detail at length the design and construciton concerns for each book."--Preface.
Post-hole bound in cloth covered boards. Pages marked with stamps, labels, seals, and a date due slip to resemble a library book.
