Latin America's passion for, and some would say obsession with, soccer is the central theme that ties together three very different lives. A third-division soccer player in Santiago, Chile, is offered a bribe and the possibility of playing professional soccer. The player accepts, not realizing that his decision betrays a lot more than the loyalty of his teammates, he betrays himself. Further north, a group of young boys have a contest in which the last goal is the winner. In order to play, one boy swaps his mother's most prized possession. Losing his family's few remaining pesos, the boy is forced to make a bold sacrifice. In a remote corner of the island, Chilolo, a young man on the way to visit relatives, finds himself stranded in a small village on the day of an important national soccer match. All the men of the area gather around the only television set at the Séron sisters' house. What began as an innocent trip to visit relatives ends in an affair with an older woman. (container).
